Meta Ads MCP for ChatGPT: Setup and What to Ask
TLDR
- You can use a Meta Ads MCP in ChatGPT as an app or a custom connector. Proxy reads other brands' public ads from the Meta, Google, LinkedIn and TikTok (EU) ad libraries.
- In ChatGPT, search 'Proxy' in the app store, or go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Create, name it Proxy, paste https://mcp.useproxy.dev/mcp and sign in.
- It is read-only and never touches your ad accounts. The free plan gives 20 credits a day.
- It cannot run or edit your own campaigns. For that you want an account-management server.
Searching for a Meta Ads MCP for ChatGPT usually means one of two jobs: managing your own ad account, or seeing what competitors are running. Proxy does the second one, inside ChatGPT, and setup takes a couple of minutes.
(Proxy publishes this blog and makes the tool described here. Setup steps match the install page at useproxy.dev/welcome, checked October 2026.)
Is there a Meta Ads MCP for ChatGPT?
Yes, and like Claude, ChatGPT can connect to two kinds of server.
- Account-management servers work on your own Meta ad account: reports, audiences, campaign changes. The comparison is in our Meta Ads MCP setup guide.
- Ad library servers read the public ad libraries so ChatGPT can show you any brand's live ads. Proxy covers Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, LinkedIn and TikTok's EU ad library from one connection.
Can you use AI to run Meta ads? An account-management server can make changes in your account if you give it write access. An ad library server like Proxy cannot: it only reads public data, which makes it a safe place to start.
How do you add Proxy to ChatGPT?
There are two routes, and both use OAuth sign-in with no API keys.
From the ChatGPT app store
Search for Proxy in ChatGPT's app store and add it. This is the shortest route.
As a custom connector
- Copy the Proxy MCP URL:
https://mcp.useproxy.dev/mcp. - In ChatGPT go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Create. This link opens the connectors settings.
- Name it Proxy, paste the URL and sign in.
- If ChatGPT asks you to confirm a Proxy action, allow it. Proxy is read-only.
Custom connectors can depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings, so if you do not see Create, check with your workspace admin or use the app store route.
What can you ask ChatGPT once Proxy is connected?
Name a brand and the platform. ChatGPT picks the tools, pulls the ads and shows the creatives in the chat as a carousel where your ChatGPT mode supports it. Prompts that work:
- "Pull [brand]'s live Meta ads and tell me the three offers they repeat."
- "Search the Meta Ad Library for 'AI note taker' and summarise the hooks."
- "Compare [brand A] and [brand B] across Meta and Google. Which has been running the same creative longest?"
- "Find competitors for [my site] and pull their ads on LinkedIn."
- "Transcribe the top video ad from [brand] and rewrite its hook for my product."
If the carousel does not render in a given mode, the ad details still come back as text, so the research itself still works.
What is the best AI tool for Meta ads?
It depends on the job, so be wary of one-line answers.
- To read performance and manage campaigns in your own account, use an account-management connector. Meta's own is covered in our Meta Ads MCP guide.
- To research competitors' ads, use an ad library connector. Best ad library MCP servers compares the options.
- To browse one library by hand for free, the libraries are open to everyone. Free ad libraries compared explains what each shows.
Credits and limits
Each ad library or analysis call is 1 credit, batch calls are 1 per item, and checking your balance is free. The free plan is 20 credits a day with no card. Pro is $50 a month for 100 credits a day, and Max is $100 a month for 250 a day. There are no overage charges.
Proxy shows public ad library data only. There is no spend or results data for commercial ads, because the libraries do not publish it. TikTok coverage is the EU ad library, searched by exact advertiser name.
