Self-host the open-source ad library MCP servers

Tanmay Jain·Updated

TLDR

  • Four MIT-licensed MCP servers, one per ad library: Facebook (Meta), Google, LinkedIn and TikTok (EU)
  • Run them locally with Python or Docker, or deploy one to Render in a click, with a bearer token so nobody else spends your credits
  • You bring a ScrapeCreators key (about $1.88 per 1,000 calls after 100 free credits) and a Gemini key for video
  • Hosted Proxy runs all four in one server with no keys, plus competitor discovery, briefs and the ad carousel, free for 20 credits a day

Self-hosting is great for tinkering and personal use. If you're doing client work or sharing with a team, hosted Proxy is less hassle and usually cheaper.

The four servers

  • Facebook Ads Library MCP: search the Meta Ad Library for any brand's live Facebook and Instagram ads, and analyze image and video creatives
  • Google Ads Library MCP: pull any advertiser's ads from the Google Ads Transparency Center, with creative variations
  • LinkedIn Ads Library MCP: search LinkedIn's ad library by company, keyword or ID, with targeting and impressions
  • TikTok Ads Library MCP: search TikTok's EU ad library by exact advertiser name, with video analysis

Each repo has the full install guide, example prompts and troubleshooting.

Run it locally

You need Python 3.12 and a ScrapeCreators key. Add a Gemini key if you want video analysis.

git clone https://github.com/proxy-intell/facebook-ads-library-mcp.git
cd facebook-ads-library-mcp
./install.sh

Put your keys in .env, then paste the config the install script prints into Claude Desktop or Cursor. Swap facebook for google, linkedin or tiktok to run the others.

Deploy to the cloud

Each repo has a Deploy to Render button. Click it, paste your ScrapeCreators key, and Render builds the Docker image and generates an MCP_AUTH_TOKEN for you.

Your endpoint is https://<your-service>.onrender.com/mcp/ and every request needs Authorization: Bearer <MCP_AUTH_TOKEN>. In Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http meta-ads https://<your-service>.onrender.com/mcp/ --header "Authorization: Bearer <MCP_AUTH_TOKEN>"

Any Docker host works too. Set MCP_TRANSPORT=http, MCP_AUTH_TOKEN (16+ characters) and SCRAPECREATORS_API_KEY. The server won't start in HTTP mode without the token.

Usage data

The self-hosted servers send an anonymous ping on each tool call: the tool name, the repo, a call count and a random install ID. Never your prompts, results or keys. It tells me which tools people actually use. Turn it off with PROXY_TELEMETRY=0. Every so often a tool result also includes a one-line tip about hosted Proxy.

Or skip all of this

Hosted Proxy is the same servers, already running, with all four ad libraries in one connection. Sign in with Google, connect it to ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor, and you get 20 free credits a day. No keys, no server, no bill from ScrapeCreators.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Facebook, Google, LinkedIn and TikTok servers are MIT-licensed on GitHub under proxy-intell. You can run, fork and change them. Hosted Proxy at useproxy.dev runs all four in one server with extra tools on top.

The code is free. You pay ScrapeCreators for the ad data, about $1.88 per 1,000 calls after 100 free credits, plus Gemini usage if you analyze videos. Render has a free tier for the server itself.

Not easily. ChatGPT and claude.ai connect to remote servers with OAuth, and the self-hosted servers use a simple bearer token. They work in Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor. Hosted Proxy works in all of them, including the ChatGPT app.

The tool name, the repo name, a call count and a random install ID. No prompts, results, API keys or personal data. Set PROXY_TELEMETRY=0 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1 to turn it off.

Self-host if you want to change the code or keep everything on your own infrastructure. For everyone else, hosted Proxy is quicker to set up, covers all four platforms in one connection and is free for 20 credits a day.
