Google Ads Transparency Center API: 4 Ways to Get the Data

Tanmay Jain··5 min read

TLDR

  • We found no official public API for ads in the Google Ads Transparency Center. Google does publish a BigQuery dataset, but it covers political ads.
  • For commercial advertisers you have three practical routes: a scraping API (SerpApi, DataForSEO), an Apify actor, or a hosted MCP like Proxy.
  • Apify actors list from about $0.45 to $4.99 per 1,000 results. Pick one only after checking its page, because prices and maintainers change.
  • If you want answers in ChatGPT or Claude rather than JSON to process, Proxy reads the Transparency Center live and is free for 20 credits a day.

If you searched for a Google Ads Transparency Center API, the short answer is that we could not find an official one for commercial ads. What exists is a political-ads dataset and a set of third-party services that read the public site. Here are the four routes and when each fits.

(Proxy publishes this blog and is one of the options. Third-party prices come from the linked sources, checked October 2026, and can change.)

Is there an official Google Ads Transparency Center API?

Not that we could find. The Transparency Center is a website: you search an advertiser and browse its ads, with no export button. Google's BigQuery guide describes a public dataset of election and political ads, which is not a feed of every advertiser's commercial ads. Check Google's documentation before building on either assumption.

BigQuery: political ads only

Google's guide shows how to query the political ads transparency data with SQL. It is the right tool for election advertising. It is not a way to list a competitor's current shopping or app-install ads.

Scraping APIs

SerpApi documents a Google Ads Transparency Center engine with filters such as advertiser ID, region and ad format. DataForSEO lists per-request pricing for its Google ads endpoints, from $0.0006 per request on its standard queue. Both return JSON that you process yourself, so they suit developers more than marketers.

Apify actors

Apify's store has several community-built Transparency Center scrapers. Listings we saw range from about $0.45 per 1,000 ads (one example) to $4.99 per 1,000 results, and some are marked deprecated. They are good for a bulk pull on a schedule. Because each actor has a different maintainer, check the last update before relying on one.

A hosted MCP like Proxy

Proxy is a free MCP server that gives ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Codex live access to the Google Ads Transparency Center, plus Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok (EU). You ask "What Google ads is Notion running right now?" and get the ads and a summary in the chat, with no code and no JSON handling.

  • Better for: marketers and agencies who want answers, not a data pipeline.
  • Worse for: developers who need raw JSON in their own database or very large bulk exports. Use a scraping API or an Apify actor for that.

Which should you pick?

  • Political or election ads: BigQuery.
  • A product or pipeline that needs JSON: SerpApi or DataForSEO.
  • A bulk pull of one advertiser's ads: an Apify actor.
  • Weekly competitor research in an AI assistant: Proxy.

No. Google's BigQuery guide covers election and political ads. It is not a feed of every advertiser's commercial ads.

Browsing the site is free. For structured access, Proxy is free for 20 credits a day with no card, and the BigQuery political dataset uses standard BigQuery pricing.
