Grammarly ads: testing cadence, angles and landing pages

Grammarly is an AI writing assistant (now part of Superhuman). We read all 201 active ads in the Meta Ad Library, plus its Google, LinkedIn and TikTok (EU) ads, and worked out how often it launches creative, which angles it scales, who the copy talks to and where the clicks go.

Grammarly is retooling its Meta creative around AI: 74 launches in the latest week (a complete sample of 201 ads) and 74 versions of one "AI writing assistant" ad, while a 161-day-old set of "mistake-free" videos keeps running under it.

Testing cadence: how often new creative goes live

12 weeks agothis week

74 launched in the last 7 days, 85 in 30, 134 in 90; the median active ad is 40 days old and 33% have run 90 days or more.

This is a complete sample, so it is exact: 74 ads launched in the latest week and 44 about 5 weeks ago, with little in between (the last 3 weeks: 9, 2, 74). 37% of the sample is under 7 days old and 33% is past 90. So Grammarly is in a relaunch: the old 161-day videos are still live while a new AI-assistant creative set goes up beside them.

Creative mix: format, copy length, placements

  • Image53% (107)
  • Video47% (94)

Median copy length 77 characters (160 under 100, 37 of 100 to 300, 4 over 300). Placements: Facebook 100%, Instagram 46%, Threads 44%, Messenger 43%, Audience Network 1%. Buttons: Install now (86), Download (78), Sign up (32), Learn more (5).

Variant check: the 201 ads share only 13 distinct pieces of copy. 5 copy groups run in 3 or more versions (192 ads), the biggest in 74. Many versions of one message is the signature of a winner being scaled or an angle being tested across creatives.

Messaging and who the copy talks to

  • Mentions "new" or AI37% (74)
  • How-to or education1% (2)
  • Free trial or sign-up push1% (2)

Share of sampled ads whose copy leads with each angle (keyword-matched, one dominant angle per ad). Ads with no clear angle are not shown.

Audience cues in the copy: beginners (2%), students and teachers (1%), parents and kids (0%), teams and managers (0%). Angles and audience cues are keyword-matched, so read them as a guide, not a count of record.

Two stories run side by side. The old one is accuracy: "Make Your Writing Mistake-Free" (30 versions, 161 days), "Don't let incorrect word usage and grammar mistakes send mixed messages". The new one is AI assistance: "Work faster and smarter with an AI assistant that supports you at every step" (74 versions) and a "Keep getting pinged?" workflow video (56 versions). 74 ads lead with the new-or-AI wording. Buttons split between Install now (86), Download (78) and Sign up (32). There is no persona: the ads address every writer.

Landing page strategy: where the clicks go

  • other page55% (110)
  • app store43% (86)
  • homepage2% (5)

201 ads in the sample carry a link and point at 5 distinct pages across 3 hosts (grammarly.com 110, itunes.apple.com 86, superhuman.com 5). 2% use UTM tags (utm_source=infl on 5, utm_medium=cpc on 5).

We opened the top pages (October 29, 2026): itunes.apple.com/app/id1158877342 loads and redirects to apps.apple.com/us/app/grammarly-ai-keyboard-voice/id1158877342, titled "Grammarly: AI Keyboard & Voice App - App Store"; grammarly.com/a loads directly, titled "Grammarly: Free AI Writing Assistance", marked noindex (hidden from search, so it exists for ads only); grammarly.com/es/a loads directly, titled "Grammarly: Ayuda gratuita de escritura con IA", marked noindex (hidden from search, so it exists for ads only).

Half the traffic goes to the App Store (86 ads) and half to grammarly.com/a (80) and /es/a (28), a short ad landing page whose title is "Free AI Writing Assistance"; both pages we opened are noindex. A few ads go to superhuman.com with a full UTM set (utm_phase, utm_bu, utm_campaign, utm_source=infl), an influencer-tagged campaign for the parent brand. The brand is mid-transition: Google and LinkedIn list the advertiser as Superhuman.

What to steal

  • Run the new story next to the proven one during a relaunch, and let the new creative earn its place before you retire the old.
  • Use a short, noindex /a landing page just for ads, with a one-line promise matching the ad.
  • Tag influencer campaigns with a full UTM set so partner traffic reads separately.

What to watch

  • The retirement of the 161-day mistake-free set: when it goes, the accuracy story has been dropped.
  • The advertiser name: Google and LinkedIn list Superhuman, so brand search for Grammarly alone can miss ads.

How to read this: the library lists active ads only and shows no spend, so launch counts are survivors, start date approximates launch, and a sample ranked by reach favors proven ads. Written from the October 29, 2026 snapshot; sampled all 201 active ads.

Across platforms: what else stands out

The LinkedIn ads (62, listed under SuperHuman) are education and enterprise: a college case study ("See How Phoenix College Scaled AI Across Existing Workflows") and a responsible-AI framework for institutions.

TikTok EU shows 6 ads, all first shown in the last 30 days, with student-and-creator hashtags (#school, #ugc, "Don't sound like a robot").

Grammarly on TikTok (EU)

TikTok's public library only covers ads delivered in the EU and is searched by the exact advertiser name. Under "Grammarly" we sampled 6 ads of about 6; 6 first showed in the last 30 days. We keep this section only when the ad titles mention the brand, but the library does not verify that the advertiser account is the brand's own.
